A Village – Park Namsu

A Village

Park Namsu  (1918-1994)

The day a lonely village
leisurely dozes in the afternoon

And a kite swirls like a pinwheel
In the vast village…

A hen in the front yard
chases her shadow
and swallows fear as she rolls her eyes.

마을

외로운 마을이
나른나른 오수(午睡)에 조을고

넓은 마을에
솔개미 바람개비처럼 도는 날……

뜰안 암탉이
제 그림자 쫓고
눈알 대록대록 겁을 삼킨다.
